Though the weather was not kind, it didn’t dampen our spirits and everyone had a great time shooting at the 2000 Olympics Archery range. The rain and wind made for some challenging shooting conditions. Otherwise it was a great venue and a well organised tournament.
Erina Archery Club was very successful with an impressive medal tally over the two days. On day one, medal winners were Trish Richards (silver), Kerry Heath (bronze), Dean Conacher (bronze), Bill Meldrum-Hanna (silver), Hayden Crampton (silver), Erin Waagan (silver), Ichiro Gunnee (not one but two bronze medals !). Day two Matchplay medal winners were Dean Conacher (silver), David Coultard (silver) and Hayden Crampton (bronze).
Special mention must go to Trish, Erin, Ethan and Ichiro who were competing in their very first shoot away from Erina, with Ichiro (Ichi) only recently having completed our beginners class. Thanks also to the event organisers and judges which included David Robertson and Andrew Crampton from Erina.
The next event we are planning to compete in as a team is the Warringah Open on Saturday 22nd March. Erina is defending the team trophy we won at this event last year. It will be fantastic if we can have another big team at this event.
